Hiking

Skäckerfjällen

Skäckerfjällen Nature Reserve covers an area of 467 km² and has a high mountain character, with the highest peaks reaching about 1200 masl. The whole area is stunningly beautiful. A 34 km-long trail connects Kolåsen and Anjan, and there are two wind shelters along the way. If you are planning to spend the night, you will need a tent. We recommend taking detours from the trail and visiting the mountain tops. We suggest staying for at least two nights to fully enjoy the experience. Skäckerfjällen is still relatively unknown and is an oasis compared to many other mountain areas. Sösjöfjällen is also another great place for hiking.

Dörrsvalen

There is a trail starting from Kolåsen that goes up to Dörrsvalen at an altitude of 984 meters above sea level. The trail offers a great view as a reward, making it a worthwhile hike. If you don’t feel like hiking the entire way, you can rent a bike from us for the first 6 km, which goes on a forest road. After that, it’s approximately 4 km left to reach the top. Along the way, you can also take a small detour to visit the waterfalls. They are beautiful to see and you can even take a lukewarm or refreshing dip in them.

Grötlunken och Strandstigen

There are two marked trails in Kolåsen which are both around 4 km long. The one known as Grötlunken takes you through an old-growth forest with beautiful fauna along the way. The second trail, known as the beach path, follows the shoreline of Lake Äcklingen and passes two secluded sandy beaches with glittering golden sand.

A little further away, there are other nice hiking options such as Klumpen, Silvertjärnarna, Suljätten, and Gråsjön.
