Skiing

Skiing in Kolåsen is wonderful, whether you set off directly from the hotel into the nearby area or head to Skäckerfjällen for a tour.

Prepared ski tracks:  We offer a prepped ski track that spans five kilometers, taking you through old forests and over marshlands with scenic mountain views. Every year, the loop is extended with a longer trail to cater to cross-country skiers who wish to immerse themselves in nature on-site. You can start skiing directly outside the hotel, in the upper cabin village, or from the lower cabin village. Additionally, you can ski multiple laps if desired. Touring skis are also suitable for this track, as long as they are not too wide.

Alpine touring: There is a marked trail in Skäckerfjällen that stretches approximately 32 km long between Kolåsen and Anjan. The trail begins near the lakes on the Kolåsen side and continues into Rutsdalen. Snowmobiles are prohibited in the area, but the first part of the trail is often prepped by us as we run the Fjällexpressen for guests who are interested in backcountry skiing.

If you are coming from the opposite direction, drive your car to the spot where the trail starts descending on Road 336. You will find a parking lot that is plowed for this purpose. From there, you can start your ascent directly, and it is a wonderful route that is great even for a round trip.

The snowmobile trail goes across the ice on Lake Äcklingen. You can follow the trail towards Gråsjön, and then turn away from it and ski towards Storfjället on prepped tracks to create your own loop.

Of course, it is also possible to create your own loop from the trail at other locations.
